We would like to share some of our learning with you ...
This term we changed our topics around as the children were showing interest in sea creatures and pirates! The children have been practising their writing skills, labelling parts of a fish and creating their own sea creature on the computer. They have been practising counting and number formation and have looked for different 2D and 3D shapes in the outside classroom. The most exciting part of this term was when the pirates came and stole Italy’s attendance bear! The children were very concerned about the bear and followed the clues to help find him – well done Reception! Most recently, we have been talking to the children about recycling and plastic pollution and how these issues affect the world – specifically the sea. They have made some lovely posters and have had very mature discussions about this issue which highlights what caring and thoughtful individuals they are. As a year group we realised that we waste lots of plastic straws through having our milk and have written to the milk company to ask if we can have cups to pour milk into instead to decrease our impact on the environment- and they have agreed. Well done Reception!
In addition to all of this excitement the children have been very busy rehearsing for our Nativity play – they have enjoyed singing the songs and doing some acting on the big stage and the children cannot wait for our 3 performances!
Next term we will be “On a Polar Adventure” for our next topic!
